CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY

"A GUIDE TO DEVELOPING AND MAINTAINING A HIGH SCHOOL
PROGRAM IN CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY"

Welcome to one of the nation's fastest growing industry.  Over 1 million jobs in construction will be created over the next decade.  Construction Technology is part of the Engineering and Industrial systems career cluster in Idaho and is fully supported by the Idaho Division of Professional Technical Education.  There are basically two national industry associations that also provide a great deal of help in most all areas of program design-from marketing, curriculum development to industry certification for students.  These two associations are focused on commercial and residential construction.  These associations maintain excellent websites that can be most valuable to any school district wishing to start a Construction Program (www.residentialacademy.com  and (www.nccer.org/curriculum).

The main purpose of this website is to provide the school district with some of the nation's best practices in designing and implementing a good high school technical program.  This is a step-by-step process that will help your school in having an excellent Construction Program that will meet the needs of students, industry, and community.

This is not about developing a class but is about developing a comprehensive program which will impact the lives of students forever.  It is about doing technical education in the right way.

We hope that you will review each of the navigational items and use the suggestions mentioned.  It will definitely assist in the quality of your program.
